A proportion of computer costs, incurred by a principal, restricted principal, partnership or group practice, can be directly reimbursed. The costs of purchasing, leasing, upgrading and maintaining a computer system, and the initial staff costs of setting it up, are all eligible. Any remaining expenditure is reimbursed indirectly. Claims which are not reimbursed because funds are not available may be resubmitted the following year. Computing costs which derive from fundholding are now met from the fundholding management allowance rather than under Red Book arrangements.
