CD
Version
The Internet version of The Red Book is always up to date and the browsing
environment is sufficient for most users. However, The Red Book has been
available for some time in a CD version which includes a more powerful
browsing package. This can be purchased as a subscription for updates. See the TCR
company web site for ordering information.
The main differences are:
 | Structure. The CD version presents each book as one long document,
still navigated using a contents tree. This makes it easier to locate and
print large portions of text, and you can copy and paste into a word
processor. You can tag selected paragraphs, then view only those. |
 | Notes. You can add your own notes in the margins, and all of the text you type becomes searchable. |
 | Highlighters. You can use different coloured highlighters to mark different
sections of the text to ensure you remember areas that struck you as
important the last time you browsed. |
 | Customisation. A Health Authority could configure a version of the
CD for their practices, incorporating information such as H.A. policy around
The Red Book text. |
