The Contents Tree
This can be found to the left of this window, and it presents an overview of
the structure of the site. The + and - signs on each node allow
the tree to expand to show different sublevels within each book. At each level
you can expand the tree to list the subsections that branch off that level.
Click on a document name to view it in this window.
The topmost level is given as 'The Red Book Collection', and you can click on
that to return to the opening screen at any time. Immediately beneath that are
folders containing each of the books available.
The Toolbar
These are the groups of grey buttons in the red strip at the top of the window. Click on:
 | Home to return to the opening screen, just like clicking top level
'Red Book Collection' in the Contents Tree. |
 | Search to call up the search box to find specific words in phrases
throughout The Red Book. See late. |
 | Back and Forward are buttons that always belong to the
browser itself. Use them to step through the history list. These are
equivalent to the buttons always found within your web browser. Back returns
to the last document you have viewed, and then Forward reverses the action
of the Back button. |
Note that the Back and Forward buttons should not be confused with the Next
and Previous buttons. Next and Previous allow you to page through the documents
sequentially, in the order built into the contents tree and the books
themselves. Back and Forward relate to the order in which you have personally
chosen to jump about the site. It is as though you left a trail of string
through each page you read, however you arrived there. Back and Forward move
along this piece of string!
The other Toolbar buttons are described later on in this help section. |
