Searching
At it's simplest, you can enter a list of words into the text box in the
Search pane, then click Go to reveal a list of matches and the names of
all the documents and books in which any of the words appear. This hit list will
appear in a new part of the window beneath the document window which itself will
change to show the first hit document. To invoke the search box, click Search
in the red toolbar.
Click
on the titles listed in the hit list to jump to other documents. In each of
these the relevant words will be highlighted. When a search has been performed,
the search box will now contain Next and Previous buttons to move up and down the list of matching documents.
Clicking on Clear within the hit list will clear the
highlighting and close the hit list window.
Refining your query
The simple text box search is quick and easy to use, but you may be
overloaded with matches, many of which could have been excluded if your query
had been more specific. To perform more advanced searches (e.g. find health
but not child), use the structures suggested in the hit list pane before
a search is made. (e.g. "health not child"!)
Such options described include looking for words that begin
with the same stem (e.g. 'child' finds both 'child' and 'children'), and
words that mean the same (e.g. 'child' finds both 'child' and 'infant')
using a built in thesaurus.
